Tips to crack an interview

Be sure about yourself; be confident (but not over-confident)! That is what matters the most! Let us discuss more...

Knowledge is very important as that is one major source of generating confidence. Take time to prepare for an interview – know about the company, history of the company and its products and other relevant information that can come in handy during the interview.

Personality, which constitutes your psychological as well as physical attributes, differentiates you from the rest. Be natural and impactful at the same time. Develop positive personality traits.

Next comes Communication – how you say, what you say, use of words, tone and pitch. Effective communication helps establish a relationship with the interviewer(s).

For an interview, you have to prepare all your documents, of which your Resume is the most important document. Be careful with the format of the resume and state the facts. Ensure that things are mentioned chronologically.

You must be punctual. Try to reach a few minutes before time so that you do not look nervous or anxious and become at ease with the surroundings. At this time also you are noticed by the employers.

You have to pay attention to your hygiene and attire. You should wear formals and make sure that your clothes are clean, well-ironed and suit your persona. Your grooming is one of the most important aspects that make a difference during the first interaction.

Basic Grooming Tips:

Face – Your face is first to be noticed

Skin – Keep it clean and moisturized

Hair – Clean, well-combed

Nails – Neatly trimmed and clean

Feet – No cracked heels

Clothes – well fitting, cleaned and ironed. The combination should suit you and should be sober

Shoes – Formal, should not be worn out, well-polished

Let us talk about confidence a bit more. What is Confidence? Why do we need it?

Confidence is that feeling of our inner soul that makes us believe in ourselves. It is a feeling of surety about oneself. If we think positive and interact with positive people, it helps build confidence. Confidence also comes from tasks (small as well as big) that we are able to execute successfully.

Ask yourself, “Let’s say that I get all the things I want, what I would want then?” You will find there are many layers to the answer. Keep asking until you find something meaningful. Each person will discover something a little bit different. It might be something entirely different! Maybe you cannot even find a name to it – you sense that it’s your true feeling, but maybe it’s impossible to put it into words but that’s okay!

When we prepare for an interview (formal meeting in which one or more personal question, consult, or evaluate another person: a job interview), interview skills (skills or actions that allow a person to be more effective throughout the interview process for a new position) play an integral part.

Not all interview skills are the same type. You can be interviewed by a newly established hospital for an administrative position; you could even be interviewed for the position of a Radio Jockey or a salesman at a toy store. The traits that are required for each place will be significantly different (some can be same like assessment of sincerity for the job). Always try to identify – am I appearing for the right company and the kind of work I would love to do (or not)?

Here are some points that will help when you appear for an interview next time:
